DISTRICT WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM MODERNISATION

The company is a privatised district water supplier with a water network of more than 100 km. Old leaking water pipes and outdated technical equipment led to high water and energy losses within the network.


According to the energy assessment RuSEFF experts recommended to replace old water pipes, to install variable frequency drives and water dispatch control system, to modernise water treatment plant.

The proposed investment of USD 1 million resulted in annual savings of USD 188 000 and reduction of energy consumption by 49%, a payback period of 4.5 years and an overall return on investment in terms of energy savings of 18.4%. Emission reduction is 281 tonnes of CO2 – eq. annually.
