RUSEFF TOOK PART IN THE PRESENTATION OF SIMBIOCITY PROJECT IN SVERDLOVSK REGION

The Ural Chamber of Commerceorganized meeting with the delegation of the Kingdom of Sweden, headed by the Ambassador of Sweden to the Russian Federation Mrs. Bard-Bringeus, on February 28, 2014.  The workshop on energy efficiency was held during the meeting where the deputy Director of the RuSEFF Program – Grigory Chorayan delivered his speech.

The Russian businessmen were familiarized with the concept of SimbioCity – a project jointly created by the Swedish government and Swedish businesses. This project is built upon the energy savings’ policy, increase of energy efficiency and waste management. The ideology of SimbioCity is to minimize consumption of resources and to maximize level of comfort of habitat.

The SymbioCityplatform connectsmore than 400 Swedish companies – leaders in different segments of the world market. Their activity includes all stages of project management – starting from business idea and feasibility study and ending at the stage of project implementation, staff trainingand consumer education.  

RuSEFF upholds the principles of Simbiocity through the financial support of projects leading to energy savings in Russia. The experience of the Program – more than 700 projects  realized during the last three years totalling at USD 200 mln – proves both significant environmental effect from the introduction of energy efficient technologies, and quite high level of profitability of such investments.

RuSEFF representative informed the participants of the seminar about the results of the  EBRD Program in Ural Federal District and Russia inwhole. Several examples of the realized projects were also presented there including ones devoted to the enterprises in wood processing industry, transport companies and manufacturers of lighting systemsfor buildings. The success of these projects has been assured thanks to purchases of high quality energy efficient equipment supplied by Swedish companies. In conclusion, Mr. Chorayan reminded the participants that under RuSEFF Program private small and medium-sized enterprises can obtain financing.
